The Voices for Victims coalition consists of members who have their own personal experience with the criminal justice system and have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to achieving justice for themselves or a loved one. It also includes community leaders who advocate for victims of violent crime.
The coalition’s mission is to advocate on behalf of victims and survivors of crime to ensure that in the pursuit of criminal justice reform, the survivors are not forgotten, and the voices of victims are heard. The coalition advocates on a local, state and national level regarding legislation, enforcement, funding and services that will help victims obtain justice.
Their primary duties include speaking in front of policy makers; conducting interviews for local, state, and national news media; recording brief videos and video podcasts; engaging in social media and direct letter campaigns regarding victim awareness; and providing input as needed on new legislation and policies affecting victims’ rights.
